Dial up issues

Point to Point over Ethernet (PPPoE) uses a dial up to connect to the main server. PPPoE is now natively supported by almost all Operating systems from Mac OS X to Windows 2000 / XP onwards to every flavour of UNIX.

PPPoE was chosen by GTTPL as our choice of protocol for broadband connections since with PPPoE the error messages are very specific and can be debugged immidiately by remote helpdesks.

Furthermore since all the communication between the client machine and server is tunneled, the security is higher than with other modes of access.

GTTPL allows connecting with our system using either the native dialer in all OS or via specialised dialers which are available on the downloads page.
